Yawen Tan is a Chinese filmmaker, writer, and artist based in Paris.
A 2020 Stanford graduate, her work traces the female body as a site of psychic rupture—moving through madness, desire, death, and play. She is currently writing her debut feature film and a literary memoir.
Her films have received awards and nominations from the New York International Film Awards and Los Angeles Film Awards, and have been presented at the Marché du Film at the Festival de Cannes.
In 2020, Yawen was featured by Stanford News as one of its outstanding graduates. In 2023, she received the Asia-Pacific Leaders Initiative Outstanding Delegate Award for her contributions to the arts and humanities.
