A Tale for A Tail goes behind the scenes of the global mermaid performance industry, focusing on the women inside the silicone tails. Through in-depth interviews with performers in China, it reveals a world where fantasy is a job and glamour is part of the costume. The film captures their everyday realities—the physical strain, occupational risks, and demands of performing—while challenging the romanticized image of the female mermaid.
