Duàn chronicles the daring seven-day journey of a Chinese female filmmaker as she discontinues her bipolar medication and embarks on a quest for self-discovery. Through her unraveling mental state, feminist defiance, and creative obsessions, the film creates an experimental, liminal space where “bipolarity”—between normalcy and madness, femininity and masculinity, documentary and fiction, truth and illusion—is radically challenged and rewritten.
